Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Suryapratap Shahi said in a farmers’ conference on Tuesday that farmers should sow more pulses and take advantage of the subsidy scheme being provided by the government. He said that farmers should use gypsum in their fields to get a better yield. In in a speech at the state level Kharif Productivity Seminar through video conferencing, Agriculture Minister Surya passed the information.
The minister said that having received a good rainfall, farmers should now sow ‘dhaincha’ by deep plowing their fields. When the drench crop is 40 days, then turn it over in the fields. This will increase the fertility of the land. Commenting on crop insurance scheme, he said that now it has been made voluntary instead of mandatory.
